Si Ying Lee Receives 2025 Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize

Congratulations to Harvard math PhD graduate Si Ying Lee, currently Szegö Assistant Professor at Stanford University, for receiving the 2025 Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize! Lee won the prize for her contributions to the theory of Shimura varieties.

Popularly known as the “Oscars® of Science,” the Breakthrough Prize was created to celebrate the wonders of our scientific age. This year’s list of winners honors scientists driving remarkable discoveries in gene editing, human diseases, the fundamental particles of the Universe, and its underlying mathematical principles. The Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize is awarded to outstanding women mathematicians who have recently completed their PhDs.
