Harvard 2019 Putnam Competition Results

Harvard’s team of Sehun Kim ’22, Sheldon Kieran Tan ’23 and Franklyn Wang ’22 placed second among 570 institutions in the 80th Annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, the preeminent mathematics competition for undergraduate college students in the United States and Canada.

Laura Pierson ’21 was one of three recipients of the Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prize which is “awarded periodically to a woman whose performance on the Competition has been deemed particularly meritorious.”

This is the 15th year in a row that Harvard’s team has placed among the top five Putnam teams. 4,229 student participants from 570 institutions participated in the six-hour-long, two-part competition on December 7, 2019.
