Harvard Math Professor Melanie Matchett Wood Elected to National Academy of Sciences
Melanie Matchett Wood, William Caspar Graustein Professor of Mathematics, was elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).
“It is a great honor to join so many of my mathematical role models in the NAS,” Matchett Wood said. “I look forward to helping in the mission of the Academy to provide scientific advice for the benefit of society.”
The NAS was established in 1863. Its mission is to recognize and elevate outstanding science, fostering its broad understanding, and overseeing the National Research Council in producing and promoting the adoption of independent, authoritative, trusted scientific advice to the government for the benefit of society. Its members are elected in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.
