Topology is the branch of mathematics concerned with shapes and their spatial properties. This talk is about how several tools from classic algebraic topology – like cohomology, classifying spaces and vector bundles – can be used in machine learning tasks such as dimensionality reduction, time series analysis and data alignment. I will use a number of examples to illustrate real applications of these ideas.
