Course Notes:
Necessary background includes at least one proof-based course in mathematics, and an exposure to linear algebra, preferably in the abstract setting of vector spaces. Examples of suitable preparation include either of the sequences Math 22ab or Math 25ab, or the sequence Math 21ab together with Math 121. Students who have taken Math 21b and Math 101 may also find this course a good match. Math 122 should not ordinarily be taken by students who have taken Math 55a, except in consultation with the Director of Undergraduate Studies in Mathematics.
