Financing Harvard Mathematics Into the Future

The Harvard Department of Mathematics has a storied history and has long been regarded as one of the best departments in the world. Our faculty consistently produce groundbreaking innovations and breakthroughs in analysis, geometry, topology, algebra, number theory, probability, and beyond. We work with the strongest postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and undergraduates, many of whom develop into the next generation of mathematical leaders. Our Introductory Math Program serves the largest number of students in Harvard’s Division of Science, offering innovative instruction and learning opportunities. You can learn more about the Department in our newsletter.

The Harvard Center of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (CMSA) was founded in 2014. It is closely allied with the Mathematics Department and serves as a catalyst for two-way interactions between mathematics and science. The Center’s researchers work on a wide range of mathematics related to physics, computer science, statistics, economics, biology, neuroscience, and beyond. It hosts programs, workshops, conferences, and public lectures on forward-looking topics, organized on a short timescale to capitalize on novel opportunities as they arise. You can learn more about CMSA in our newsletter.

The Department and CMSA form the vital hub of research and learning that is Harvard Mathematics. Together they create an opportunity to build one of the world’s major centers of mathematics. The current disruptions in funding and international access bring into sharp focus the need to secure this exciting future.

There are several ways to get involved. The buttons below are for current use contributions to the Department and CMSA, and you may also sign up for occasional email updates about our activities.
