12 Things About Me
- On June 25, 2007, my daughter Harriet was born. She's the best.
- I applied for a marriage license at approximately 2:30 am on May 17, 2004 and a week later married my wife in a bowling alley under a wedding canopy. And, no, we're not big bowlers.
- I am a Preceptor in Mathematics at Harvard University. In the fall of 2007 I'll be an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Lesley University.
- I like to sing.
- I don't have a TV because if I did I'd spend my whole life watching CSI and Beauty and the Geek. I cannot be trusted with a TV.
- I enjoy reading every kind of magazine (except for Lucky).
- The public library is one of my favorite spots on earth. You go in empty-handed and leave with a giant pile of books, all for free! I am fond of the Main library in Cambridge on Broadway St. and the Boston Public Library in Copley Square.
- I am interested in increasing economic opportunities for all people through mathematics.
- I am also interested in helping people to solve problems through mathematics, and to improve their ability to understand and use the amazing amount of information that surrounds us every day.
- I have read The Lord of the Rings trilogy more times than I can count, but 30+ times is a reasonable estimate. Other than LOTR, I like to read mysteries and non-fiction.
- I once went to a 10-day silent meditation retreat which is surprising given how much I can talk.
- I love old cookbooks and old recipes, even when they are strange and kind of gross.
