Inaugural Lecture Series

An Inaugural Lecture Series of the Center of Mathematical
Sciences and Applications will start on the afternoon of April 10, 2014.
Shoucheng Zhang of Stanford University will be giving a
talk entitled 'Topological insulators, superconductors, and
mathematical science'
, followed by a talk from
Stanley Osher of the University of California, Los
Angeles entitled 'What sparsity and l1 optimization can do for you'.
Refreshments will be available in the Austine & Chilton McDonnell

Gazette announcement

Center creation

The Harvard gazette of December 2nd announces the creation of three centers. One of them is a Center for Mathematical Sciences and Applications. It will serve as a fusion point for mathematics, statistics, physics, and related sciences. Evergrande will support new professorships, research, and core programming. Shing-Tung Yau, Harvard’s William Caspar Graustein Professor of Mathematics, will serve as the center’s first director.
