| A question
that dates
back to Monge, and has been worked on
by Fubini, Griffiths and Harris, Hwang and Yamguchi and others, is to
recognize homogeneous varieties by their local differential
geometry.
I will describe recent work with C. Robles where we prove a general
recognition theorem based on using Lie algebra cohomology to resolve
